The object of the study is functions of clitics се and си in the contact position in verbal use. The complexity of the problem at hand comes from both the accumulation of two reflexive elements with their different semantics and function and the additional semantic and expressive nuances that these elements implement depending on the context and depending on the grammatical peculiarities of the motivating verb. The meaning of the motivating reflexive verb (construction) and the importance of the derivative doublereflexive combination of a verb and the both reflexive elements – се and си shall be analyzed. Depending on whether the “се” and “си” are part of the argument structure of the sentence (reflexive pronouns with the syntactic service of objects), whether they have a modal function or represents word-forming particles, we are talking about reflexive (doublereflexive) constructions or about reflexive (double-reflexive) verbs.
