Резюме:

One of the elementary premises of cognitive linguistics is the assumption that vocabulary, the phraseological fund, grammar and semantic links between other language units reflect the way of thinking, understanding and interpretation of the world. Metaphor is, in this respect, observed not only as a language means but as a result of the author’s creativity. It is an immanent part of human communication, arising from subjective experience, closely tied with the cognitive processes. This text deals with the cognitive reconstruction of the concept of malevolence in Slovak language. Standardized language structures, implying the knowledge that creates the emotional world of the Slovak lingual and cultural community, are the subject of this analysis. In addition to an analysis of the cognitive “profiling” of the term, culturally specific discrepancies in the structure of experience – which are the basis of such conceptualization – are observed.
