Резюме:

The article analyzes some Bulgarian and Polish kinship names from the point of view of the speech etiquette characteristic of the family environment. The authors examine the most common kinship terms and their functioning as forms of address. The analysis takes into consideration the specificity of the family speech etiquette and the sociological factors that influence the choice of a certain form of address. There are some similarities between these two languages that are a result most of all of their common Slavic origin, but there are some typical differences too. These differences are connected with more distinct tendency to showing respect to the elders, which is presented in the special forms of appeal to older brother or sister in Bulgarian culture and also connected with the characteristic of the Polish culture tendency for showing close relations by the use of diminutives that can be found in the Polish kinship terminology.
