Abstract:

This study focuses on the psychosocial and physical effects of swimming on individuals with disabilities through a survey conducted with 25 parents and caregivers. The 11-question survey assessed participants’ perceptions of swimming’s influence on self-esteem, social integration, independence, and acceptance of individuals with disabilities. Results revealed overwhelmingly positive attitudes: 100% of respondents observed greater social acceptance, following participation in swimming activities. The findings emphasize the multifaceted benefits of adaptive swimming, highlighting its importance in enhancing physical performance, emotional well-being, and social inclusion of individuals with disabilities.
