Problems in Distributed Online Services Caused by Application of Centralized Implementation

Abstract:

In the current Internet, centralized applications and services often address semantically decentralized tasks. This introduces a fundamental inconsistency between the natures of the task and the solution that addresses it. The negative consequences of which are many and potentially expensive for the users. They include undue limitation of the quality of the service, functional limitations of the solutions, fragmentation, and others, which can translate to losses from minor disadvantages to significant personal, monetary, and social ones. Examples for such centralized services include social networks, search engines and others. The ELIAS architecture aims to create another look at the Internet architecture at the application level in order to resolve the aforementioned inconsistency.
