Abstract:

The study presents the main moments of the birth of the idea, the preparation and implementation of the first organized celebration of the feat of Hadzhi Dimitar and his chetniks on the Mount Buzludzha after the liberation of Bulgaria. In the course of the exposition, the role of the mem bers of the „Iskra“ Student Group in Kazanlak as the initiator of the event was clarified. The contribution of the teachers from the Kazanlak Men‘s Three-Class School and other public figures from the City of Roses and the region has been clarified in the realization of the first of its kind commemo rative ceremony dedicated to the Buzludzha Epic. The first commemorative gathering at Buzludzha and the decision of the attendees at the event, who paid tribute at the site where Hadzhi Dimitar fell, to build a monument to the glorious Voivode and his chetniks.
