Abstract:

For the general audience, Dr. Vasil Tsochev Genkov is rather an “unknown” person. It is such “forgotten” figures that change our ideas about the role and place of the individual in the specific historical society. Through all his activities – personal, professional and public – he became an impor tant factor in Karlo‘s socio-political and cultural life from the end of the 19th and the first half of the 20th century. A man with a renaissance scope, an enlightened visionary, a revivalist profile and a patriotic spirit – this is Dr. Vasil Genkov – one of the “forgotten wakers” in our recent history.
