Abstract:

The article examines the meetings of the Central Committee of the Internal Macedonian-Adrianople Revolutionary Organization (IMARO) held on 4 and 10 May 1917 and the decisions taken at those meetings in the context of the ongoing First World War and the relations between the revolutionary functionaries and German businesses providing their funding. For the first time these are embedded in a wider context with its own back ground history. The meetings aim at solving the accumulated problems, pre venting personal ambitions from gaining the upper hand and providing a perspective to relations with foreign partners. Both meetings examine the issue regarding the composition of the Central Committee, given that var ious persons are striving to become its members. The meetings can also be regarded as a sort of culmination of the involvement process of one of the advisers of the Foreign Representation in the Internal Organization, namely Dr. Dimitar Tochkov, who would withdraw definitively the following year.
